I feel like my brain is always in creative mode, so it’s really hard to turn it off

How do you keep your creative drip going?

I feel like my brain is always on creative mode, so it’s really hard to turn it off. I write a lot, even when I don’t post it. I create videos. Getting dressed everyday is also a way that I express my creativity.

What is the last thing you learned?

This is a random fact but did you know that there are more stars in space than there are grains of sand on every beach in the world?

What advice would you give to your younger self?

I would tell my younger self to ask more questions and don’t be afraid to speak up, even if it means being wrong or disagreeing with someone because it allows you to learn.

What are you working on right now?

Currently I’m working on my portfolio, my blog, and YouTube page.

What inspires you?

I really get inspiration from myself. It might sound weird but, I think about the woman I want to be. Then, I think about how she would look, what would she dress like, what she’d do with her day. That inspires my style because it’s almost like creating a character.

Describe your dream job.

My dream job would be as an entrepreneur. I would own my own nail salon, have personal clients that I style, do some tv work, and have a few foundations to help the homeless and mentally ill. I really love to work and have a lot of ideas on how to change the world, so I can’t see myself doing just one job.

I think black and brown people are being seen more now in the industry and we’re being asked to put our input and cultural style on projects

What industry blogs/websites/podcasts do you enjoy?

I love xonecole.com because there’s so many different writers so you get a lot of different topics and writing styles. I love Jesus and Jollof. I can’t wait until they come out with their second season.

What do you think the future holds for people of color in creative industries?

I see us having a seat at the table for sure. I see us creating the table. I think black and brown people are being seen more now in the industry and we’re being asked to put our input and cultural style on projects. There’s definitely progress that still needs to be made but, we’ve come far.

Even if it means hiring us after to fix the mess.
