5 favorite musical artists of all time?

I'm sure this list will change in a few years but:

1. Burna Boy

2. Rosalía

3. Cardi B

4. Asa

5. Lauryn Hill

What inspires you?

My writing style is inspired by great conversations I read or have with people, well thought-out media (I love a good comedy special) and experiences I have.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Be patient. Very soon, you'll be exactly where you need and want to be.

What industry blogs/websites/podcasts do you enjoy?

Newsletters are sort of like the modern day form of blogs so I would say DonYe Taylor's marketing newsletter. I'm also subscribed to the Daily Dot's Passion Fruit newsletter on the creator economy. When I'm in need of writing inspiration, or just looking for interesting new things to read, my go-to websites are The Cut, NY Mag and Gawker.

What do you think the future holds for people of color in creative industries?

Financial compensation and acknowledgment for all that we have contributed to social media culture and entertainment. More international opportunities for creatives of color.

Be patient. Very soon, you’ll be exactly where you need and want to be.
— Tritima A.

What is your dream job?

I believe I could work in so many different industries and capacities, but my dream job would be one where I get to collaborate with creative people daily, push boundaries and create tangible impact for communities. Most importantly, one where I feel I can be myself and don't need to code switch. It would also be at least semi-remote!

What skill(s) would you develop if you had more time?

I love editing videos, especially for mobile platforms. If I had more time, I would learn to use Final Cut Pro and other sophisticated video editing software.

What is the last thing you learned?

This might seem random, but I learned about the rule of thirds in cinematography/photography — a technique whereby the subject is placed at the left or right third of the screen to make the viewer pay attention.

What are you working on right now?

Right now, I am doing fashion freelance writing as well as social strategy for a beauty brand.

If you could talk to your favorite creative for an hour, who would it be? Why?

I would talk to DonYe Taylor. She's just so smart (and fly!). I would love to hear her thoughts on the latest marketing campaign or rollout.

What advice would you give to creatives of color looking to pursue their passion full-time?

I'm not entirely sure, as I'm not pursuing it full-time at the moment but when the time comes, the advice I would give myself would be to trust my instincts, trust the process, tighten up my finances, never stop learning and network like crazy.

How do you keep your creative drip going?

I watch and listen to media I find stimulating, follow creatives that inspire me so that I'm constantly seeing interesting ideas in my feed and I take time to process my thoughts.
