5 favorite musical artists of all time?

  • Outkast

  • Seal

  • Missy Elliot

  • James Brown

  • Aerosmith

What inspires you?

Comfort inspires my style, pretty much everything piece of clothing that I own can double as pajamas and I basically tailor my lifestyle around my sleep schedule.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

I wish that my younger self knew just how detrimental trying to find shortcuts for everything would eventually become. Having to learn and re-learn skills that I could have just focused on in the beginning is way more difficult as an adult.

What industry blogs/websites/podcasts do you enjoy?

Making the Brand

What do you think the future holds for people of color in creative industries?

I think that people of color are becoming exposed to creative positions in several industries that they have not traditionally inhabited.Continued exposure will lead to greater visibility and normalcy for future generations.

There is absolutely no shame in having to simultaneously work a survival gig while fervently pursuing your craft.

What is your dream job?

I'd love to curate the music playlists for in-flight entertainment.

What skill(s) would you develop if you had more time?

Performing spoken word, writing stories, and plays, speaking fluent Mandarin and video editing.

What is the last thing you learned?

I recently learned techniques for growing a monetizing a podcast during the Spotify Sound Up Bootcamp last summer.

What are you working on right now?

I am currently working on my podcast, "You Heard Me Write" and several sound designer projects.

If you could talk to your favorite creative for an hour, who would it be? Why?

I would most certainly pick want to pick Andre 3000's brain, super weird and introverted people are always intriguing to me and I appreciate how he switches up creative mediums.

What advice would you give to creatives of color looking to pursue their passion full-time?

Art is great...but so is eating food and living indoors. There is absolutely no shame in having to simultaneously work a survival gig while fervently pursuing your craft.

How do you keep your creative drip going?

For me, creativity means purposefully venturing toward the opposite direction of the majority and exploring that space until they ultimately follow me there.
