What inspires you?

Not to be cliche, but my dreams motivate my style. I also draw my inspiration from my environment and mental health. I use the things that are hard to talk about or confront and I make them visually beautiful.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Never let anyone dim your light by shining it on other things that do not inspire you. DO YOU!

What industry blogs/websites/podcasts do you enjoy?

I listen to Unpack 'n Bounce Back, I also am glued to indeed these days. I follow various design pages on instagram.

What do you think the future holds for people of color in creative industries?

We are the future. We have always had so much to offer and now is our time! We are on the rise and it is so beautiful to see everyone express themselves and show their creative nature.

Keep working! Don’t let the success of others discourage you.

What is your dream job?

I would love to work as a designer, whether it is graphic or hands on. I want to work on a team where we can inspire each other and brainstorm together.

What skill(s) would you develop if you had more time?

I would love to create marketing materials for companies. Package design, clothing, logos and even animated videos

What is the last thing you learned?

I learned how to make animations using my iPad. I was already skilled with Adobe After Effects so it didn't take long to learn.

What are you working on right now?

I am currently a freelance graphic designer as well as an assistant to an artist pursuing their career.

If you could talk to your favorite creative for an hour, who would it be? Why?

Frida Kahlo, even though she isn't here. We are alike, we use our pain and make it visually beautiful, we tell stories. I would love to hear hers directly.

What advice would you give to creatives of color looking to pursue their passion full-time?

Keep working! Don't let the success of others discourage you, let it motivate you and assure you that your time is coming! Everything will align when you're passionate.

How do you keep your creative drip going?

I either journal everyday or spend time sketching. Also, I love to go out in nature and observe the colors, the perspective, the environment and learn from it.
