What inspires you?

Everything seems to inspire me, from movies, anime, video games, the lyrics in a song, there's always something that takes my mind to another place and inspires me to create something.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

KEEP DRAWING, don't stop for anything in the world, create something every day. it does not matter if you think is bad or not just keep doing it.

What industry blogs/websites/podcasts do you enjoy?

There are many places I go:

- Dribbble

- Instagram (different studios and creatives)

- Behance

- Communication Arts

- Print Mag

What do you think the future holds for people of color in creative industries?

WE ARE BLOWING UP! LEFT AND RIGHT! It’s really nice to see people getting heard and showing our culture within the art as part of the different creative ideas that go into the industry.

What is your dream job?

My dream job would be the one where I can create brands and inspire people while enjoying a good cup of coffee in my own home or wherever I decide to go travel along with my wife and daughter.

What skill(s) would you develop if you had more time?

If I had more time, I would like to further develop my motion graphic and animation skills, I know a couple of things but I would like to successfully master that skill.

What is the last thing you learned?

I took a night class that was focused specifically on improving my skills as a draftsman. The class itself was intense, and I learned so much about the value of repetition. Overall, my drawings have gotten much stronger — but more than that, I learned how to practice drawing itself, particularly for concepts and objects that would have previously intimidated or overwhelmed me.

What are you working on right now?

At the moment, I am developing a new logo and brand identity for the University of California in San Francisco.

If you could talk to your favorite creative for an hour, who would it be? Why?

If I could talk for an hour to a creative it would be to Aaron James Draplin because his creative process is really inspiring and amazingly executed, it even seems like he never gets a creative block moment.

What advice would you give to creatives of color looking to pursue their passion full-time?

Get stuff on your portfolio, passion projects, side projects, freelance work, fill your portfolio with cool stuff that you enjoyed working on.

How do you keep your creative drip going?

Some of the ways I stay creative is by listening, watching other creatives, and creating stuff of my own.
